Position Purpose

The HR Manager is a key leader responsible for overseeing execution of HR policies and programs. Reporting to the Director of HR, this role manages the HR team and drives initiatives in talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, compensation & benefits administration, leadership coaching, training & development, and compliance. The HR Manager serves as a resource for managers and associates, ensuring HR programs align with people strategies and foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance culture.

Key Responsibilities


Team Leadership & HR Oversight

  •           Lead and supervise HR team members, providing coaching, development, and performance feedback.
  •           Ensure HR processes are executed accurately, timely, and in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  •           Align team priorities with organizational objectives and the strategic direction set by the Director of HR.
  •           Lead continuous improvement projects focused on HR programs and employee experience. 

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

  •          Design, implement and lead best in class recruiting and onboarding processes to ensure a positive candidate and new hire experience.
  •          Participate in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding processes as needed.

Employee Relations & Engagement       

  •          Lead employee investigations and oversee employee relations issues, providing guidance and resolution support, promoting a positive & inclusive workplace of belonging.
  •          Promote engagement initiatives and implement culture-building programs.
  •          Support managers in applying HR policies consistently and fairly.
  •          Answers employee/candidate questions about HR policies and offerings.

Performance & Development

  •          Coordinate performance review cycles and ensure timely completion of appraisals.
  •          Provide tools and resources for employee development and career growth.
  •          Serve as a coach and mentor for managers and supervisors, particularly those new to leadership roles.
  •          Ensure performance expectations are clearly communicated, and associates receive coaching, recognition, and development opportunities.
  •          Deliver classroom and virtual training content to leaders and associates. 
  •          Ensure Individual Development Plans are delivering developmental growth to leaders and associates, building our Bassett succession pipeline.

Compensation, Benefits & Compliance

  •          Manage compensation & benefit plan administration.
  •          Ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies; maintain accurate records and reporting.
  •          Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including EEO, FMLA, and FLSA. 
  •          Educate employees on benefit offerings, claims processes, and wellness incentives.
  •          Manage the company’s salary grade structure, ensuring competitiveness and internal equity.
  •          Advise managers on compensation decisions, including those outside typical ranges.
  •          Conduct salary benchmarking and research as needed for new or evolving roles.
  •          Perform bi-annual market reviews and recommend cost-of-living adjustments or structure changes as necessary.

HR Systems & Process Improvement

  •          Maintain HRIS data integrity and generate reports as needed.
  •          Identify opportunities to streamline HR processes and improve efficiency.
  •          Measure and report KPIs (Turnover, Time to Fill, Open Positions, etc.)

Collaboration & Support

  •          Work closely with the Director of HR on strategic projects and initiatives.
  •          Provide input on workforce planning and succession strategies.

Qualifications

  •          Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field.
  •          5+ years of progressive HR experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
  •          Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
  •          Excellent communication, problem-solving, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
  •          Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  •          Professional HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.
